LINDA GILBERT-ARTIST

Linda was born in Manhattan and grew up in Brooklyn. She studied at Brooklyn College, where she earned a BA and MA in Art/Education. Linda taught Art for 32 years in the New York City Public School System in Brooklyn and Staten Island.

Now retired, Linda resumed her own painting. Her style of paintings is derived from imagination and reality. She tends to lean towards surrealism. Subject matter is varied, from landscape, to still life and design. Linda works predominately in Acrylics, but collage and mixed media are also incorporated in some paintings.

She is currently teaching Acrylic Painting for The United Federation of Teachers in the Si Beagle in the Outreach program of the UFT in Manalapan, New Jersey. Linda also volunteers at the Gourgaud Gallery in Cranbury, New Jersey. She is the chairperson for the January Open Call exhibit, and every May organizes the Painting Class’s Art exhibits at the gallery. Linda has had several successful Art Exhibits (including 2 solo exhibits), at the Gourgaud Gallery.
