I posted these comments to Facebook, but am reposting here:
ReplyDeleteON LINDA'S: Great job, Linda. I echo Renu's comment on the colors. Your foreground is handled expertly. Sky echoed in water at left as well. Again, your cropping choice is very artful and wise. The whit fence and railing unify the painting beautifully.
ON RENU: Excellent, Renu. You veered toward "cool" in your expression here with green dominating. AND, the trees seem to be very "Scandinavian." :) Were you feeling native "pines," or "conifers" while you were painting them? You handled the small dock and house very nicely.
ON MIRIAM: I would have never thought to "vignette" this subject. As someone who has spent time up in Eagle Bridge, NY, and met the great, and great-great grandchildren of Grandma Moses, I can truly say that this is very evocative of her "Primitive" style. Lovely. It actually warms me.
ON RHONDA: I envy the simplicity of how you handled this, Rhonda. The reflections are excellent as is the illusion of depth you created. Excellent.
ON DEBORAH: Very nice. You wisely and thoughtfully made the warm colors in this painting dominate, carrying them into the foliage and the water as well BUT not letting them overpower the painting.
Thank you so much for the excellent comments! Much appreciated Artie.
