Fauna, Flora and Mystical Exhibit

        LINDA GILBERT

Painting is a passion for communicating your emotions and thoughts.  I communicate my inner self by painting landscapes, seascapes, people, animals, interesting architecture and fantasy.  The paintings in my collections reflect my imaginative and experiential view of photographs that I've taken and sketches that I have made, in my travels.  I aim to tell a story of my mind through my artwork by altering reality to create a whimsical world. I work predominately in Acrylic Paint, and occasionally use oils. I enjoy the Acrylic medium, allowing me to work on a painting in my own space of time.

This show at the Gourgaud Gallery, “Flora, Fauna and Mystical” is a compilation of Art work that I have created over the past 2 years. The exhibit will run from July 8-July 22, 2012.

As a special incentive, the opening day of the Show (July 8, 2012), I am offering a free small matted painting (matted in an 11 x 14 matte) with any purchase of larger painting.  This is my second show at the Gourgaud Gallery, which took place in 2010.

Following my retirement as a New York City Art Teacher for 30 years, I returned to my passion of painting. A portfolio of my work can be viewed on my web site www.PaintingsbyLinda.net and also viewed on Facebook at Paintings by Linda. I write a blog that features commentaries of paintings, styles and collections of work on my blog: "Acrylic Painting"  www.PaintingsbyLinda.blogspot.com.

I am currently teaching an Acrylic Painting class for retired New York City Teachers for the United Federation of Teachers in Manalapan, NJ. I also recently created an Art program for residents of the Renaissance at Cranbury Crossing, NJ where I instructed Painting.

A  monthly  challenge is available on Facebook page “Painting Challenge”, where a new topic is offered and artists from all over the world submit their paintings for all to see. I am the co-host of this challenge page.

As a member of the Cranbury Arts Council, my responsibilities include the Gourgaud Gallery Facebook page and setting up and publishing the Gourgaud Gallery blog: www.Gourgaudgallery.blogspot.com. This blog features interviews with exhibiting artists at the Gourgaud Gallery and pictures of the current show in progress. The interviews are conducted by my husband, Robert Gilbert. The blog also features updates of the Cranbury Arts Council events. In addition to these responsibilities for the Gourgaud Gallery, I write the gallery updates for the Cranbury Newsletter (published 4 times a year) and the Journal (published monthly).
