This year the artists also painted in parks and on Main Street in Cranbury. The art will be on display through the month of December making it a great time to purchase art for holiday gifts.

All art that is sold gives a 20% donation to the Cranbury Arts Council in order to continue in its mission to promote and support the arts through its programs, classes, exhibits, summer art & technology camp and winter theatre camp.

Updates on current shows

We are now into September, and I thought it time to write another blog of what is happenening in my
art world. I am currently exhibiting at the Monroe Township Library, New Jersey, in a 3 month exhibit. Many of these paintings were previously exhibited in a most successful showing at the Gourgaud Gallery in Cranbury, New Jersey in July. As stated in the previous blog, the turnout was huge. Over 100 people came throughout the month to see this exhibit. I also sold a great number of paintings! The current exhibit goes through the end of October.

I am also in a group show which will open Sept. 9, 2012 at the Gourgaud Gallery, Cranbury New Jersey. This show is called Winter Workshop.  I have 2 collages in this show that I did in attendance of the Winter Workshop class I attended offered by the Gourgaud Gallery. This show will go through the end of September. The exhibit offers the pieces for sale, with 20 % going to the Gallery.

END OF EXHIBIT AT GOURGAUD GALLERY-JULY 28,2012

Today is the day that I remove the exhibit at the Gourgaud Gallery. It was a very successful showing. I sold several paintings, and had a tremendous turn-out at the reception. I received numerous compliments for this show. I am flattered, humbled and overwhelmed. This show, minus the purchased paintings will now go to the Monroe Township Library Fine Arts Gallery (a beautiful new gallery in Monroe Township, New Jersey), where it will show for 3 months.

I must say that this has been an experience for me. It is not my first one woman exhibit. I also did very well 2 years ago, when I had the first solo show, selling numerous paintings, but this one had a more emotional impact for me. I experienced anxieties that I never had before. The preperation was overwhelming, with choosing the paintings, framing, planning the hanging order, the paperwork, planning the refreshments, and keeping track of the invited guests who came. I also was awed by the amount of people who came to the opening and after that (according to the sign in sheet) who took the time to visit my Art Work. Thank you all for coming. It is a very satisfying feeling to see that people from places other than local areas came from locations over 100 miles away!!!!!!

Please see some photos from the exhibit

Flora, Fauna and Mystical”

The Gourgaud Gallery will host “Flora, Fauna and Mystical,” an exhibit of works by Linda Gilbert, July 8-27 at the gallery's location in Cranbury Town Hall, 23-A N. Main St. in Cranbury.

The show is a compilation of artwork Gilbert has created over the past 2 years.

Painting is a passion for communicating your emotions and thoughts," Gilbert says in a statement. "I communicate my inner self by painting landscapes, seascapes, people, animals, interesting architecture and fantasy. The paintings in my collections reflect my imaginative and experiential view of photographs that I've taken and sketches that I have made, in my travels. I aim to tell a story of my mind through my artwork by altering reality to create a whimsical world. I work predominately in Acrylic Paint, and occasionally use oils. I enjoy the Acrylic medium, allowing me to work on a painting in my own space of time."

Gilbert was a New York City Art Teacher for 30 years. Now retired, she teaches an acrylic painting class for retired New York City Teachers for the United Federation of Teachers in Manalapan. She is a member of the Cranbury Arts Council, and has exhibited in several art shows and local galleries.
The artwork is for sale with 20 percent of each sale going to support the Cranbury Arts Council and its programs. Cash or a check made out to the Cranbury Arts Council is accepted as payment.

The exhibit is on view Mondays through Fridays, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and 1-3 p.m. on July 8, 15 and 22. The opening reception will be held July 8. As a special incentive on opening day of the exhibit, a small matted painting (matted in an 11 x 14 matte) with any purchase of larger painting is being offered for free.
